The Pattie family shares their success story
Located in a small town on the beautiful Pacific coastline, the Pattie family produces rough sawn lumber as well as custom wood furniture, and their family-run sawmill business was developed by their son, who has been engaged in their family tradition of sawmilling and woodworking for generations.
“Wood has always been a big part of my life and creativity,” says Sean. “When I was a kid, I always loved to poke my head in my dad and grandpa's lumber store. I was constantly surrounded by lumber and rough sawn timber, so the idea of sawing has been on my mind since I was a kid. You could say I was happily born here.”
In the spring of 2020, Sean's father purchased a JR1000 hydraulic portable sawmill. Initially, the sawmill was used on the family farm and to produce rough sawn lumber, but it has since grown into a full-time business. Shawn says, “The woodworker plays a huge role in what we do.” “The mill is the heart of our business. It generates income, gives us the greatest gifts, and brings the biggest smiles to others who watch and experience its capabilities. We love every aspect of it!”
Most of the lumber they sell is rough sawn dimensional lumber ranging from 8 feet to 20 feet long and 12 inches to 30 inches wide. Their company also offers portable sawmill and custom finish carpentry services as well as custom tables and furniture.
As their business grows again in 2023, once again choosing JR59 Sawmill by Jellyfish Machinery, their company's main focus is to serve the local community through high-end woodworking. “The JR59 Sawmill, adapted to cutting high end lumber with a very high degree of accuracy,” Sean fed back. “Wood and timber is something we love.” “Our customers appreciate our service, turnaround time, products, and the fact that we are focused on serving our small community.”
